PROVIDING TRANSFORMATIVE MOVEMENT EXPERIENCES THROUGH ADAPTIVE DANCE
Two-Day Adaptive Dance Teacher Training Program
The 2020 Adaptive Dance program featured a new virtual format with a Two-Day Teacher Training program focused on the methods of teaching Adaptive Dance classes, discussions and lectures on various disabilities, the benefits of movement therapy, class management strategies and recommended class structures.
The world-renowned Boston Ballet School faculty created a robust program that was both mentally and physically engaging, provided high caliber training, and incorporated dialogues with students and parents who participate in their programs.
An added benefit of a virtual program was the incredible opportunity for some of the world’s most knowledgeable physicians from Harvard Medical and Boston Children’s Hospital to join as guest speakers and educators. The specialists included a Pediatric Specialist from Boston Children’s Autism Spectrum Center, a Pediatric Psychologist from Harvard Medical School Physical Therapist / Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Who Should Attend
The program is designed for anyone interested in learning more about transformative movement instruction for those with disabilities including dance teachers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and schoolteachers. The skills acquired are transferrable to many real-world scenarios in the dance studio, the classroom, summer camp, and the playground.
By expanding teacher resources in the Sun Valley area and beyond, we hoped to facilitate an increase in Adaptive Dance class offerings in the Wood River Valley.
